Embed Vine videos directly on the Web

Twitters short video sharing service Vine has received a small “social” update. Vine which was released around two months ago by Twitter, let users record short six second video clips which could then be tweeted to their followers. Earlier users could only embed tweets with Vines,but Twitter has added more functionality to the service now.

Google Plus received an update yesterday which brought quite a few changes to its mobile apps on Android and iPhone as well as a few changes to user profiles on the web.

China adopts Ubuntu as the official OS of China

In a move that will give open source software a boost in the public eye, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has chosen Ubuntu as the base for an operating system that is more suitable for Chinese users. It will go by the name of Ubuntu Kylin and will be released by April.

Flickr introduces hashtags in iOS app

Flickr has updated its app for iOS with the ability to add hashtags to any image. While the website does allow you to add “tags” to any image to allow easier search, these don’t show up as hashtags in the app itself.

Facebook allows voice calling in iOS mobile apps

Facebook had launched a beta feature in its iOS messenger app last month, which allowed users to send voice messages to each other. Now in another significant update, it has reportedly added the option to make voice calls via the Facebook mobile app.
