China adopts Ubuntu as the official OS of China

In a move that will give open source software a boost in the public eye, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has chosen Ubuntu as the base for an operating system that is more suitable for Chinese users. It will go by the name of Ubuntu Kylin and will be released by April.

Firefox 18 released with retina display support

The latest version of Mozilla’s browser, Firefox 18 is now available for download. This version see’s more than 21 updates with around 300 bug fixes. Mozilla assures that Firefox 18 makes Web apps and games perform up to 25 percent faster.
