Facebook now allows you to promote friends posts
Facebook had introduced the ability to promote your own posts last year. Now they are taking it one step further by allowing you to pay and promote your friends posts as well.
Situations under which this new feature can be put to use can be hypothesized as follows: Your friend is moving out and has a yard sale, you can promote this post so that more people will visit this sale. Or one of your friends might have rescued an animal and is looking for its owner or anyone to adopt it. You could pay Facebook to promote this post to make it appear higher in your friends’s new feeds. It has been reported that this feature will be restricted to users with less than 5000 friends or followers. Do note, that there is no foolproof method yet to evaluate how aggressively your post is promoted.
While you will not need permission from your friend whose post you are promoting, keeping in mind privacy concerns, this post will only be visible to those who it was originally shared with. What do you think of this new feature by Facebook? Do you think it will legitimately be useful or is it just another way to burn a hole in your pocket. Voice your opinions in the comments below.
