The Starbucks Experience
The Starbucks Experience
Our trip to Comic Con also entailed a visit to the newly opened Starbucks Cafe in South Mumbai. The Techdivine team was very enthusiastic to have a cuppa and see for themselves what sets Starbucks apart from other Cafes.
The outlet is situated at Horniman Circle just across the Asiatic library. The Elphinstone building with its architecture perfectly matched the style and ambience of the Starbucks brand. There was a short queue of people outside who were just as eager to get in as we were.
This board outside the entrance gave us an inkling of the fabulous service that we would experience inside. We were ushered inside soon and stood in another queue to place our orders. As we stood in line, we got into conversation with a lady from the Starbucks staff who was here from UK to ensure that the overall experience offered to each customer matched the global Starbucks experience. She was quite friendly and when one of our friends suggested that she try out “Madras filter coffee”, the south Indian coffee experience, she was game enough to assure us that she definitely would!
In the meantime we inhaled the enriching aroma of coffee that wafted around the shop while also admiring how subtly Starbucks had adapted the architecture of the building in to enhancing their own feel of the brand. Our orders were taken swiftly and our names were duly noted down on the cups. We then moved across to the coffee bar where we witnessed a truly enthusiastic and energetic crew at work. They moved swiftly conjuring up shakes and coffees in a matter of seconds and expertly topping it up with whipped cream and caramel and making us marvel at the frenetic pace which they kept up while ensuring that each cup of coffee maintains the high standards expected.
There was another Starbucks employee waiting who gave out our drinks by calling out our names. It creates a really good connect with each consumer, when a brand takes efforts to know the name of its customer and delivers their service with a broad smile. One of our coffees were a little late to arrive and the lady apologized profusely for the delay, again showing that the brand was actually conscious of the customers needs and valued their time. We hardly noticed the delay as we were too enchanted watching the staff at work.
We then took our mocha’s, caramel fraps, cold coffees etc to the loft and settled into deep and comfortable seats. The ambience was quite relaxing with soft lighting and relaxing music playing in the background and the vintage handcrafted furniture and decorations around us. Of course the Coffee deserves a separate post of its own if it is to be described adequately. We would still run short of adjectives trying to convey how delicious and amazing it was.
The Starbucks experience is one you have to experience for yourself. The cost is almost similar to the prices by other cafes but very few of them offer the same hospitality, ambience and experience that Starbucks does. Do not take our word for it, try it for yourself. The queue outside the cafe is well worth the experience inside. There are two more outlets opening this week, one at Oberoi Mall and the other at The Taj Mahal Palace. Do make sure that you give the Starbucks experience a try, we were won over by it, you might too.
