Guides to the best Social Networking Platforms
As of date, the top few social networking platforms where majority of the audience is present are:
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube
I have come across brands that use the same content across all platforms and it really disturbs me as a digital marketer. This is what brought me to the topic for today.
What type of Content should one post on a particular Platform?
Facebook:
Visual Content appeals and increases the engagement of your posts on Facebook. The content can be a fun fact, comic, Test, Quotes, etc.
Your idea is not only to engage with the audience who has liked your page but also increase the traffic and real-time engagements.
You want them to engage, to build a connection and eventually, hire or buy from you. But step one is always to take notice of you in the ever increasing network of feeds from posts across the globe.
And the only way to achieve it is by continuously sharing content which increases engagement with your brand.
Quick Tip: Use one to two hashtags on Facebook across your posts from time to time. Try one popular hashtag and one custom hashtag for your brand. It will go a long way!

Twitter:
There are different types of tweets that you can post on Twitter – Quotes, Images, Links, Retweets, Polls or Questions, Your comments.
A link can also include the headline as a content or a line related to the link.
Similarly, a quote can include your perception or a reason to share the quote with the image of the quote or simply write the Quote as a tweet, Appreciations or comments along with few positive posts is something one can retweet.
Your goal is to have real-time engagement with not just your followers but audience on Twitter.
Quick Tip: Use Trending hashtags only if it is relevant and too many hashtags actually reduces its reach.

Instagram:
Instagram is known for the images uploaded on this platform that is finely edited and filtered.
The audience is attracted to visually appealing images and if your brand sells products and is a B2C company, Instagram should be a priority platform for you, of course, depending on the end product and or service that you deliver.
The more different types of engaging creatives you can use, various ideas, inspiring posts, behind the scenes posts, shoppable and discount posts, etc. the better your ROI is! Before you start posting the same type of images or videos, be sure to do your research to see if they would resonate with your audience.
Quick Tip: Tag your posts with the relevant hashtags to increase their visibility. Look for common tags in your industry, and see if you can incorporate them into your content. For instance, in fashion, many retailers tag their posts with popular #OOTD hashtag.
Snapchat:
Snapchat means videos uploaded for 24 hours and that is it. The usage of this platform is using engaging videos that are real-time which the audience would love to watch and be a part of. The content which one can use is, Videos of activity that is going on, here again, behind the Scene content is very popular, Pre product launch on Snapchat, etc. generally receive great engagement.
Quick Tip: Make sure all the videos are in Portrait Format and perfectly placed because the entire audience on Snapchat will access from their mobiles.
Youtube:
The content on Youtube is all about videos and is used for likable videos which are engaging. As a brand, you can also post videos that provide user reviews, how to use videos. The meta tags are to be used in the description of the video uploaded. Add all possible relevant meta tags and content in the description. Also, add a template at the end of the video with respect to your brand and can also have action words like Like this video, Subscribe, Follow us on other social pages, etc.
Quick Tip: Have a footer dedicated in the video that is consistent and has either your brand handles of the campaign name.
These are few simple yet power guides / tips which you might find useful. Also, do understand that each platform caters to a different audience and for different reasons.
Be Creative and Explore.
Also, don’t be discouraged if you don’t get immediate traction. Keep posting, do a bit of trial and error, then take note of what works and what doesn’t. Analytics and content go a long way.
