In a move that will give open source software a boost in the public eye, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has chosen Ubuntu as the base for an operating system that is more suitable for Chinese users. It will go by the name of Ubuntu Kylin and will be released by April.

Linux aficionados can rejoice as Ubuntu developer Canonical has announced the Ubuntu OS for smartphones. The new OS is designed to run on Android devices promising to make use of their full capabilities.
