Which is why, me and my wife spent almost 14 months scouting for a property that would have everything for our growing lifestyle and social life.

I am a 34 year old Marketing head of a private limited company in Mumbai. My wife was working with one of the top multinationals in the field of Finance till Jan 2013 when we had our little baby girl and she became a homemaker.

We were staying in Borivili in a rented apartment and were seriously scouting for a new home.

But we had certain specific requirements:

We needed a home where our kid could grow up in a condo-like environment, as in, an environment wherein there were lots of young families and kids could have an amazing time playing in the large vacant spaces in the building, etc

We were also looking for a home which was not too far from my work (Ghatkopar), so that my travel could be easier and at the same time my kid could find a wonderful school nearby too.

My wife was very particular that our new home should have shopping mall or at least a grocery shopping center nearby.

Also, we thought in today’s context, it would be wonderful if our new home could have swimming pool, a jogging track (me and my wife are both avid marathoners), a state-of-the-art health club and other top security facilities for the safety of those living in the residential complex.

We were looking for a 2BHK flat that would fit into our budget but at the same time ensure that we did not compromise on the future and a luxurious lifestyle for our kid.

Most importantly, we were not looking for a house, rather a place that we could truly call it our home.

But like any other couple and growing family, our biggest concern was, if we paid the booking amount on time, what was the guarantee that the house will be ready for possession on time? What if we were done and ready to move out of the lease i.e. our rented apartment and our new home was not ready, where would we go? So we needed to look for a house that was truly welcoming and assured us a feel of warmth and trust.

That is when we saw this ad from a housing group called, Ashish Estates – Park Woods THANE.

 The ad said the location was in Ghodbunder Road and we were skeptical since we were sure we would not find schools or a shopping area nearby, plus our concern was how do I travel everyday from home to work, since my office was in Ghatkopar.

But the builders office called us up and asked us to have a look at the plot and area, the sample plat and the facilities nearby. They sounded very sincere and I thought it’s just another ‘sales pitch’, but since we were looking for a brand new home, we thought, why not give it a shot!

The moment we entered the road leading us to the building we were ecstatic because both, my wife and myself spotted a massive D-Mart just two minutes from the entrance to the residential complex. Our driver informed us that the flyover we had just taken to reach here extended all the way to Mulund and further down through Eastern Express Highway. So travel would be very convenient. And the moment we entered the gate of the residential complex, we saw 4 towers of 30 storeys each majestically welcoming us.

We saw the sample flat and there was a sense of ‘positive aura’ all around.

My dad used to always tell me, you will make three only and most important decisions in your life – Your Marriage, your kid and your first home and the best part about all three would be, you would not need to decide, because in each of those cases, when you come across the right moment, you will feel the aura that welcomes you to a positive and prosperous new life.

I remembered his words because I felt it, the moment I entered this house. But we had not decided yet, so we asked a lot of questions about possession dates, other amenities, etc and the staff took us through the buildings health club, jogging track and we even met a few lovely families who were having a nice time in the evening in the complex area with their respective families. We checked with few of them about nearby shopping malls other than D-Mart and they pointed us to a nearby mall which was less than a 10 minute drive from here and they also told us about direct buses which were available every 10 minutes just outside our home on the opposite road which went to Thane station and also to Mulund etc and the frequency was about every 10 – 15 minutes or so. They also told us about the nearby Restaurants that made home delivery, there were clinics further down the road which was also easily accessible and it was coupled with roadside vegetable vendors, dairy shops, medical stores, laundry service, grocery stores and the whole place was looking alive. Ample parking space, beautiful looking construction, we were very happy. The same week, we made yet another round to the place, had a look around the area ourselves, reassured of the stuff we had heard and we were both feeling that we had found our HOME.

Within a fortnight, we had completed all formalities and we got the keys to our Thane residential 2BHK Home in Parkwoods as per the dates promised to us and it’s been almost a year since we moved in and I have to say, I think this was truly one of the best and easiest decisions I have ever made. The place, the aura in that residential complex, the Parkwoods Thane home, just felt right.

Yes, we did, we did not buy a house, we bought a home and we are loving it here.
