Angry Birds Space by ROVIO is now available for DOWNLOAD

So there’s a new Angry Birds game out. “What’s new” you say. Well, they just moved it to space.

Then….. they introduced a few more birds. Well, it’s the Same old rules too.

Then, What really is the big deal?

Well, my dear reader, it IS a big deal. While the rules are still the same, moving the game into space has introduced a lot more “cool stuff” than just different backgrounds and puzzles, the ice planet levels for example. Space physics apply all through the game.

Crux of the game levels: Every planet has a gravitational field. The area of this field is marked with the help of a translucent sphere. If by any chance you break out of this field, you drift off into space. Once you launch your bird and enter a planets gravitational field, you orbit the planet until you hit something hard and come to a rest. This helps you to score more hits.

While the premise is simple, it has been brilliantly exploited into beautiful yet mind wracking puzzles. Sometimes there are two planets with intersecting gravity fields. Or a few bricks and “tnt” in space which you might have to deflect into a gravitational field. If you break the pigs’, er let me say, “space suit”, they freeze and shatter when they dash against something. Attention to minor details like these (Space has sub zero temperatures) make the game more entertaining.

Also a lot of video games are being paid homage via easter eggs. We unlocked a Mario warp zone in one of the initial levels, space invaders easter egg, the all time classic brick game styled angry birds too. The Samsung Galaxy Note special game level is pretty cool too!
