How to start your digital marketing campaign – Step 1
This post is part of a Series: Part 1, 2 and so on which will give a step-by-step view and process of what goes into designing a successful social media campaign.
The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself ~ Peter Drucker
So it’s obvious where you need to start – By understanding the customers. Remember, you are going to be conversing with them in real-time. You need to be able to build a connect, a conversation, an engagement followed by trust with them first.
But you also need to sustain as a business, as a brand…. Don’t you?
So the first step is:
- GOALS:
- Understand from your brand, organization, stakeholders etc what are their goals from the campaign? That’s your starting point.
- When you base your digital marketing campaign on GOALS, you get a vivid idea on where to begin. For eg. if your focus is to help a brand increase its products download or active user base, then you need to focus on the product or application through their website and then focus on the demographics you are reaching out to. Just because everyone is on facebook, does not mean you need to start the campaign promotion on facebook too. So, rather than asking the first question itself as, should I use facebook or twitter or blog, remember, the product, its users and brand goals decide which platform to use and not the other way around.
